Proposal for a Southern Bypass Alternative
for the Capital Southeast Connector Concept Design

Maps below highlight the El Dorado Hills Census Designated Place using the boundaries defined for the 2010 Census.

Highly compelling Connector objectives for El Dorado Hills are:
Both can only be satisfied by a route alternative generally bypassing El Dorado Hills on the south, a tunnel 2 to 3 miles long, or an elevated roadway 2 to 3 miles long. EDH residents would not tolerate an elevated roadway. Construction and maintenance of a long tunnel is unlikely to be economically viable. This leaves a southern bypass as the only apparent option to satisfy these Connector objectives.

Description of Southern Bypass Alternative:

Black line:  Alignment already defined by JPA Alternatives 2/3
Red line:     New expressway. Southwest segment extends the existing northeast/southwest alignment of Grant Line Road.
East/west segment deviates from a straight line to reduce conflicts in right of way acquisition and need  for grading.
Orange line:  Alignment generally along South Shingle Road.
