El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce Opposes Incorporation
El Dorado Hills, CA
Oct 21, 2005
Tuesday afternoon the El Dorado Hills Chamber of
Commerce board of directors voted to oppose
incorporation of El Dorado Hills into a city. Those
supporting the action to oppose Measure P were T
Abraham, Kirk Bone, Wendy Davidson, Joe Harn, David
Kennedy and Mike McDougall. Directors opposing the
motion included Jeff Haberman, Wayne Lowery and
Susan Johnson. Director Chris Henderson was absent.
The board spent many months in discussion, research
and entertained multiple presentations from cityhood
proponents and opponents. There were many issues
leading to the final vote to oppose proposition P.
Most important to the chamber is how incorporation
will benefit business in El Dorado Hills. According to
Chairman of the Board, Lowery, “The Board’s position
against Measure P came from dissatisfaction with the
incorporation proponents’ inability to articulate the
advantages incorporation would have for local
business. Without identifiable benefits to area
commerce, the board felt that becoming a city is an
arguable action.”
