In December the Sacramento County
Airport system reported on results of its 120-day study of use
of the alternative VOR/DME approach, in addition to the standard ILS
approach. A report on 250 approaches showed 54% of arrivals using the VOR/DME approach,
46% using the ILS approach.
The total number of approaches during
2003 would have been higher --
normal
freighter traffic during 2003 produced about 6 arrivals per day.
Summary of complaints
4,019 noise complaints during the test
period. 1,987 related to nighttime operations. El Dorado Hills
accounted for 939 complaints from 140 callers. Of these, 496 complaints
from 83 callers were for nighttime operations.
