The Intel Shuttle from Santa Clara extended its downwind leg, turned base south/southeast of EDH, and overflew EDH level at ~ 3,000 feet, turning onto final over the EDH west ridge.
08:29:22 N939AJ Emb. 135 south to ILS -- -- moderate Non-Intel Embraer 135 flew due north, level at ~3,000 feet over EDH, also turned onto final over the EDH west ridge.
08:39:25 UPS898 757-200 ILS 6,811 4,006 low
09:13:32TEC623Emb. 135southwest to ILS----moderateIntel Shuttle, same approach pattern as for the preceding Embraer approaches. Mather weather probably involves ground fog and/or low clouds, requiring approaches in actual instrument conditions and eliminating VFR shortcuts of the landing pattern.

Saturday
08:02:50 UPS958 A300-600 ILS* 6,194 5,016 low
Unusual pattern, flight tracks suggest that Mather had ground fog and marginal visibility for landing under instrument flight rules. UPS993 flew inbound ~ 1/2 mile north of the ILS locator course, leveled at 5,000 feet at LDORR, and made a large circuit over Sacramento County before rejoining the ILS for landing. A Lear 40 that followed UPS993 shot a missed approach, apparently to Minimum Descent Altitude, then also did a large circuit over Sacramento County before rejoining the ILS for landing. Just before the Lear's missed approach a Beech King Air was able to take off from Mather for a short flight to Sac Exec, probably because takeoff requirements for RVR (Runway Visual Range) are less stringent than landing requirements.

17:40:57 EIA2974 747-100 southeast to ILS -- 3,077 moderate Evergreen International Airlines 747-100; low approach joined ILS over EDH west ridge, may have been an international flight.
18:47:48 UPS992 767-300 ILS 7,260 3,868 low
19:20:23 UPS958 757-200 ILS 6,978 3,881 low

For each approach a captured image of the overall approach track is linked to contents of the Approach column. For approaches over EDH a captured image of the approach track at the point of maximum noise exposure is linked to values in the Crossing Altitude column. In almost all cases this is the point of crossing the western ridge of El Dorado Hills, whose at a point whose elevation is approximately 1,100 feet. Crossing altitudes are MSL (relative to mean sea level), as reported in the WebTrak traces of flight paths. The approach of greatest interest for EDH noise issues is the ILS (Instrument Landing System) approach. For ILS approaches the flight track image linked to the Approach column shows the aircraft at the IAF (Initial Approach Fix). For approaches not crossing EDH the time cited is for an approximate point of closest approach to El Dorado Hills.

Color code for highlighting in the log table:          Early morning approach
