Early crowd, before start of San Francisco peace march On this Saturday people from near and far flooded into San Francisco to march for peace, protesting the Bush administration's intent to make war on Iraq, as well as other administration actions.

The size of the gathering was impressive, the final estimate by San Francisco police was between 100,000 and 125,000 people, dwarfing their conservative inital estimate of "at least 50,000". News sources reported that at one point the march down Market Street extended 14 blocks, and all parts of the march that I saw filled the street from one side to the other.

Marchers were a cross-sectionof the populaton, from young to old.

Many, such as this student from Colorado, were young adults of college age. Many probably share my own experience, that this is a good time to think through issues of morality and ethics, to form and refine a system of personal values, and to apply that system for everyone's benefit.
